Understanding Skid Wear

Mismatched duals are wasteful and costly. Additional fuel expense and tire wear is the result of even a 1/8th inch tire circumference.

The logic:
First, compute the circumference of the tire. This is the actual distance each tire must travel as a dual.

TIRE A: 480 rotations @ 10.996 ft. per rotation - 5280.0 FEET
TIRE B: 480 rotations @ 11.028 ft. per rotation - 5295.7 FEET

Subtract the difference to see how many skid feet per mile is wasted. Measuring how mismatched diameters affect performance.

SKID FEET PER MILE - 15.7 FEET

Tire Diameter Tire Circumference Rotation Total Feet
Tire A
Tire B
  Skid Feet Per Mile
